Can I come in for a patch test?
Absolutely, and we recommend it. A patch test lets us assess your skin type, check for sensitivity, and tailor the laser settings to give you the most effective results. It’s a quick, simple step that helps ensure your treatment is comfortable and perfectly suited to your skin.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Most clients describe the sensation as a quick snap followed by a cool burst of air, far more comfortable than waxing. The Candela GentleMax Pro™ uses a Dynamic Cooling Device™ that releases a burst of cool air before each laser pulse, making treatments gentle for most people. Mild redness or warmth can occur after treatment, but it usually settles within a few hours.
How should I prepare for my first laser session?
Shave the treatment area 12–24 hours before your appointment and arrive with clean, product-free skin (strictly no lotions, deodorant, or fake tan). Avoid waxing or plucking beforehand, as the hair root needs to be intact for the laser to work effectively. Let your clinician know if you’re taking any new medications or have recently been unwell, as this may affect your skin’s sensitivity. You must not have an active tan and avoid sun prior to your appointment.
How many sessions might I need for noticeable results?
Most people notice a reduction after a few sessions, though a full course of 6 to 10 treatments is usually recommended for the best results. This may vary depending on your skin and hair type.
What are the possible side effects?
Temporary redness or swelling is common and a normal part of the skin’s healing process. In rare cases, mild sensitivity or bruising may occur, but these effects typically resolve quickly. Our treatments are GP-supervised, and your clinician will monitor your skin throughout to ensure safety. You can return to normal activities immediately after your session, just avoid direct sun exposure for 24–48 hours and always apply sunscreen.
In what cases should laser hair removal be avoided?
Laser removal isn’t recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It should also be postponed if you’re taking antibiotics or managing chronic skin or health conditions.
Is there a minimum age?
There’s no specific age limit, but suitability is assessed during your consultation.
